CarbonTrace

Privacy

Visiting this site collects nothing about you. Its pages set no cookies, run no JavaScript, have no analytics and load nothing from anyone else's servers. I work out the weight figure on the home page when I build the site, so nothing measures your browser.

Cloudflare hosts the site, so your request passes through Cloudflare's network, as it would for any site they serve. Cloudflare's privacy policy covers that part.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, I keep three things: your email address, the time you joined and which version of the sign-up wording you saw. I'll use the address once, to email you when CarbonTrace opens up.

I store it in a Cloudflare D1 database in Western Europe. I asked Cloudflare to put it there, and it runs there today, but that's a request, not a legal guarantee. I don't keep your IP address, your browser's details or the page you came from.

Every day a scheduled job deletes any address more than 12 months old. Cloudflare keeps up to 30 days of backups, so I could restore a deleted address for that long. I don't.

To stop spam, the form allows five tries a minute from each IP address, and Cloudflare's rate limiter keeps the count. I don't save your IP address with your email or write it to a log.

You can come off the list at any time. Write to hello@carbontrace.dev and I'll delete your address.
